Hello All,

We are very excited about this special week at LTSA!

Tuesday, October 26th we will have a normal morning drop off and the kids will head to their classrooms at 8:30 to go over details and expectations for the field trip!  We will put kids in their car pools at 9:00 am and we will depart for Sweet Berry Farms at 9:15 am.  Drivers will receive their directions and lists of who they will be driving.  Parents will be invoiced for the field trip fee ($10.00).

Thursday, October 28th we are looking forward to our Trunk and Treat event with our Big and Lil Buddies!  A big thank you to our volunteer parents that are participating! We will have a normal morning drop off and the kids will head to their classrooms to take some pictures then go over details and expectations.  Immediately after drop off, participating parents can park in the first parking spots behind the Common Ground Building and set up their trunks!  Kids will walk with their lil/big buddies (around 8:50 -9:00  am) through the trunk or treating.

After the Trunk or Treat the students will head to the Common Ground  (Epo Hall) for some fun activities with their buddies and teachers.  All students that dress up in a costume will get a raffle ticket and have a chance at prizes!

Costumes need to be appropriate for the K-12 age group - you could be turned away at the door if they are not appropriate.   Also, any props that are play weapons or can be used as a weapon - please leave them at home!

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, we are very excited to have this special week with the kids!

Thanks again for all of your support!

LTSA Field Trips!

Dear LTSA Parents & Family Members, October 14th, 2021

We are excited to share with you some upcoming opportunities for field trips! Looking for an opportunity to meet your volunteer hours? Look no more! We will need parent drivers to volunteer to drive our students to each of these enriching opportunities.

Although fully booked for the season, we were able to squeeze in as one of the last school groups to visit Sweet Berry Farms for a Community Building day of pumpkin patches and corn mazes for all grades! We understand this is a last minute request, so please let us know in the survey below if this is something you would be interested in chaperoning. COVID has prevented us from field experiences and we are excited to bring them back this year! This field trip would take place October 26th and we would aim to arrive at Sweet Berry Farms around 10 AM that morning. The cost of this visit would be roughly 10 dollars per student. Address: 1801 FM 1980, Marble Falls, Texas 78654.

An Elementary (K-5)  trip we have planned is a visit to the Inner Space Caverns in Georgetown. This connects directly with science studies we have been doing in K-5 classes (animal habitats, bat studies, and earth formations). This trip would take place November 4th and we are expected to arrive at the cavern by 9:45 AM. The cost of this visit would be roughly 10 dollars per student. Address: 4200 S. I-35 FRONTAGE RD, GEORGETOWN, TX 78626

Additionally, we are hopeful to take a trip to Texas A&M Galveston for 2nd-5th grade students to learn about sea turtles and see how scientists excavate their nests to protect this endangered species. This trip will tie into their current HUB project that is focused on innovating solutions for animals in need/endangered species. This trip will take place November 18th. Please fill out the Google form to let us know whether you and your child would be interested in this field trip, and whether you would prefer an overnight stay or a day trip. If we stay overnight, we could potentially also include a visit to the Moody Gardens Aquarium and/or the beach in Galveston.

Please fill out this form to provide your input to help us plan these field trips. Thanks for all your support this school year so far! We are looking forward to many more partnerships this year.

With gratitude,

LTSA Teaching Staff

Meet Our Newest LTSA Team Member!

Introducing Our Newest Team Member, Ms. Katie Moskowitz!

Katie graduated from UTSA with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 2011.  After graduating, she spent three years teaching Kindergarten and two years teaching Second Grade.  When Katie had her first son in 2017 she made the choice to stay home and focus on being a mom.   Katie stayed busy making learning games at home for her son and now has another baby at home.  Last year Katie homeschooled a group of kindergarten students through the beginning of the pandemic and had so much fun that she decided that it was time to get back into the classroom!

In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time with her boys, baking and crafting.  She also loves working on jigsaw puzzles - the more pieces the better!  Reading has always been a love of Katie's and it is the reason she decided to become a teacher in the first place.  Katie hopes to foster a love of learning and reading for all of her students!

We are so delighted to have Katie on our team at LTSA! This was Katie's first week with us and she is enjoying your kiddos! She is teaching Kinder ELA, 1st grade ELA, and 2nd Grade ELA as well as
co-teaching for K-1 Centers Time, Hub and Math!  We hope you will join us for our next Parent Teacher Coffee (8:30 November 4th) and help us welcome her to our wonderful LTSA community!
